“Writing is hard.”

If I had a nickel for every time I either read or heard this phrase uttered by another author, I’d have a whole mountain of nickels.

And you know what? Authors are not to blame! We’ve heard that “writing is hard” from everywhere. Teachers, industry professionals, other authors….

“Writing is hard” has become the doomsday drumbeat that bangs in the background of our lives.

Then we begin to believe it, and hear ourselves repeating those words to explain away our fears, our disappointments, and our struggles.

Why do we say it?

Because it feels true.

Well, I decided it doesn’t have to be true for me. And you can also decide it doesn’t have to true for you.

What if you nurtured a new belief?

One that actually served you?

What if…

Writing was FUN?

What if you sat down each day and felt invigorated to write?

What if ideas and conversations from characters woke you in the middle of the night, instead of that tight panicky feeling in your chest that makes you believe you’re not good enough?

What if you knew (as you were typing the next chapter in your book) that this was the makings of the masterpiece?

That certainty is everything.

Listen, I started my writing journey over 15 years ago, and committed to learning everything I could about how to write a book. I studied and researched and went to meetings and talked to industry professionals and fellow aspiring authors for 2 1/2 years before I signed my agent. During those 2 1/2 years, I wrote 5 books.

Then, in 2012, my shiny new agent had three interested parties in my two-book series. Two weeks later, I was under contract with a traditional New York publishing house.

My dream had come true. ✨

Over the years, I have written dozens of books, with different publishing houses. I have an established imprint of my own under which I self-publish books now.

I’ve learned a metric ton about publishing along the way.

When I first began blogging about my journey to becoming a published author, I loved sharing what I was learning online. That hasn’t changed. I still love it.

But a quiet voice deep inside of me whispered that I had more to share than a social media or blog post could handle.

Encouraging and supporting writers in an industry that is largely perceived as “tough” continues to be my passion.

Write for Fun 101 was born out of that passion.

If you are tired of feeling tired, disempowered, stuck, “blocked” and unmotivated when it comes to your writing process, I would love to offer you a fresh perspective.

The old way isn’t working. Hustle and grind leads to burn out and fatigue and, if we’re not careful, self-loathing. Now is the time to dive into your creativity in a new way.

I want you to operate from a place of enjoyment, not torture.

My course covers everything from where ideas come from to why you need a synopsis to beginner “mistakes” like thinking we don’t have an original idea or showing versus telling. I offer support through videos I made myself, journaling questions that will take you deeper in the lesson, blogs that expand on the ideas discussed, and custom-made printable worksheets to support you during this journey.

Writing doesn’t have to be hard.

And you don’t have to do it alone.

Just because the world is telling us we have to struggle to succeed doesn’t mean it’s true.

If you are currently on the struggle bus, I have good news for you: There is another bus!

The party bus.

The fun bus.

The love-yourself bus!

Creatives everywhere are opening up to the idea that we can enjoy the process instead of suffering for our art.

We are learning to walk differently—with our heads up and our feet firmly on a path. It is possible to have fun and be determined and tenacious. We can leave behind the pressure and liberate our muses.

We can be the light for others, and for ourselves.

It is so desperately needed in our world.

We’re the ones out here smiling through the hardships.

We’re the ones asking if there’s an easier way.

We’re the ones who understand that growth can be challenging, but we can trust the process.

The new way is here.

Hi, my name is Jessica Lemmon.

I am a #1 Bestselling romance author with 47 books under my belt. I have been published with several traditional publishers and have watched as my books have been adapted into audiobooks as well as interactive gameplay on apps. Heck, once James Patterson paid me to write a book for him! Point being: the sky is the limit when it comes to the book you’re longing to write.

And I believe that the book inside of you begging to be written has come to you for a reason: so that you will write it.

You have the idea, you are excited…but you also have no idea what comes next!

That’s where I come in.

My Write for Fun 101 course is so much more than the sum of its parts. This self-taught, lifetime-access course allows you to go at your own pace, but with support. You will receive:

  • Over 20 video lessons taught by me

  • Custom-made printable worksheets

  • Journaling questions to go deeper

  • Articles that expand on lessons for even more guidance

  • and more!

And, while my schedule can support it, I am offering you a lifeline with your course enrollment. During this Zoom call, I will help you detangle yourself from your plot knot, or crack open a stubborn character.

You don’t have to do this alone.

If you have started writing your book and have no earthly clue where to go next, this course is for you.

If you have begun to doubt yourself, asking “Am I any good at this???” this course is for you.

If you have had an idea tucked away in your heart for months or even years but haven’t had the courage to write it down, my friend, this course is for you.

It’s time to turn your doubt into confidence.

Invest in your creativity and in yourself.

It’s time to Write for Fun. 💛

What you’ll learn

Write for Fun 101 will help you to trust the process.

To find the joy of creating, you must let go of the control aspect and trust the process.

Do you know what helps you enjoy the process?

Nuts-and-bolts, real-world, applicable tools of the trade.

You want a synopsis cheat sheet? I created one for you.

You want to know how to overcome “writer’s block”? I have essential mindset shifts for you.

You want to know about beginner “mistakes” every new author makes? I. Got. You.

In addition to knowledge, how about some encouragement?

This is where I excel.

Signing up for the Write for Fun course will put you front-and-center with my energy.

Not only will you be hearing my words and seeing my face, but you will also be using some of the exact tools I use to prepare to write my novels.

I’m a storyteller.

So I’m also going to share a lot of personal stories with you on how these methods have worked for me.

And I’m going to do all of this with a fun, encouraging vibe.

Why?

Because you have an idea for a book.

It’s a good idea.

It might even be a great idea.

And you deserve the chance to express yourself.

You deserve the opportunity to share your deepest feelings with the world.

Fellow writer, we have not been called to suffer for our art.

We were called to write.

Writing is a form of channeling. Ideas and dialogue and scenes come from seemingly nowhere. During the time we’re writing we can become lost in the process. The next day we read what we wrote and stumble across sheer brilliance… Did that come from me? we ask.

Because of the magic involved in the creative process, we must trust ourselves and the words that flow out of our pens or through our keyboards. We must be brave and express our deepest sense of self to the world.

And what better way to express that than through the lives of our characters?

Your book idea needs you so that it can be birthed into the world.

I can’t write it for you because that idea came to you.

It came to you for a reason.

It’s yours.

You understand it better than anyone.

Let me ask you this:

Are you ready to grow?

Are you ready to become a better writer?

Are you ready to Write for Fun?

During your writing journey, you will discover new layers of you that you may not know exist.

I have had the opportunity to express myself in lots of different ways. I have brought characters to life that are some of my readers’ favorite people.

From the woman who accepted a marriage of convenience from a billionaire to a cocky rock star who refuses to give up on the prickly woman he loves.

I have honed the writing skills needed to sell hundreds of thousands (maybe a million?!) books.

I have learned how to write a spicy bedroom scene, heart-wrenching emotions, and funny, relatable characters that make readers laugh out loud.

My gift to the world is hope, laughter, and love.

What is your gift?

What will the words you write make others feel?

Beyond shining reviews and signing autographs, I have created a life from writing. I am writing this in bed, wearing my pajamas while snow falls outside my window.

That’s freedom to me.

What about you?

Whether you are dreaming of a writing career or if you just want to dip your toe in the writing water, I want to be a part of your journey.

Write for Fun 101 is a great start either way.

I would love for you (and your book idea) to join us.
